Destiny of Immortal follows orthodox xianxia realm scaling with a twist: your breakthrough path at key gates permanently alters stat ceilings, story branches, and endgame potential. The Steam Early Access version includes the complete Luocha Island demon-cultivator storyline—roughly 500,000 words and 25–30 hours—and supports progression from mortal initiation through Soul Transformation (Huà Shén, 化神), which is the current realm ceiling. LeiYun Games has stated that two additional major storylines and higher realms will arrive during the 12–18 month Early Access period.

You begin as a five-element mixed spiritual root nobody at the bottom of the cultivation world. A Treasure of Creation rewrites that fate, but realms still gate your access to map zones, flight, NPC dialogue options, and Dantian space. Understanding each realm's requirements before you hit a bottleneck saves hours of backtracking across Luocha Island, Shanyin County, and the wider ocean routes.

Qi Refining (Liàn Qì, 练气)

Qi Refining spans nine layers and constitutes the entire opening act of Luocha Island. At this stage you hunt spirit beasts, complete timed escort quests, explore fogged maps with revelation items, and scrape together your first Profound-tier techniques. Layer breaks consume cultivation base and sometimes quest milestones; failing to prepare pills or Dantian upgrades before a key fight—such as the Liu Bohu ambush at Shanyin Pass—ends runs prematurely.

Qi Refining cultivators are vulnerable to realm suppression. Once an enemy reaches Foundation Establishment or higher, their passive pressure can debuff your stats unless you carry specific counter pills. Community guides recommend stockpiling "suppression pills" before any scripted Foundation-realm encounter even if the target is injured. Speed, stealth, and cross-realm Dantian builds are the intended way Qi Refining protagonists punch upward, mirroring the web-novel fantasy of a junior slaying seniors through preparation rather than raw stats.

Foundation Establishment (Zhù Jī, 筑基)

Foundation is the first major quality leap and the subject of the highest-traffic how-to guides in the player base. Breaking through unlocks world map flight, drastically improving travel and letting you bypass low-level random encounters. It also enables realm suppression against Qi Refining targets—official marketing describes one-thought kills against lower realms once you ascend, a power spike that reshapes open-world farming.

Foundation is not a single button press. You choose among four breakthrough philosophies that echo classic xianxia "dao base" lore:

Human Path Foundation (Rén Dào, 人道)

The Human Path is the accessible default: fewer rare material checks, acceptable stats, and a straightforward route for first-time cultivators. Human Path dao bases cap lower than specialized paths and historically limit later Golden Core potential in xianxia systems—Destiny of Immortal mirrors this by making Human Path a safe but suboptimal choice if you plan multiple playthroughs targeting min-maxed Heavenly runs.

Blood Path Foundation (Xuè Dào, 血道)

The Blood Path caters to aggressive, demon-aligned playstyles. It pairs with life-steal techniques, blood sacrifice events, and Luocha Island's morally gray story beats. Blood breakthroughs often demand combat feats or forbidden resources rather than pristine pills. Choose this if your Dantian already leans Fire or Metal burst with sustain stolen from enemies.

Earth Path Foundation (Dì Dào, 地道)

The Earth Path emphasizes steady resource investment—spirit stones, mined materials, sect contributions—and yields a balanced dao base suitable for Golden Core attempts. It sits between Human convenience and Heavenly perfection. Earth Path fits Shennong Cauldron players who stockpile pills and ores through the pocket realm rather than looting everything via soul search.

Heavenly Path Foundation (Tiān Dào, 天道)

The Heavenly Path is the prestige option. Official demo patch notes and community consensus require a bundle of conditions: multiple Foundation Pills (community guides cite nine as the target stack), a Dao Foundation Fruit, a Foundation secret manual such as the Taiyi Foundation Chart, and youth constraints—breaking through before age twenty-one is repeatedly cited as the Heavenly window. Heavenly dao bases offer the strongest stat profile and preserve access to top-tier Golden Core variants later.

Missing Heavenly requirements does not soft-lock the game, but it does soft-lock optimal scaling. Speedrun and achievement hunters treat Heavenly Foundation as the standard for first serious clears before exporting Creation Points to the reincarnation shop.

Golden Core (Jīn Dān, 金丹)

After Foundation, you refine a Golden Core whose quality depends on your chosen dao base. Heavenly Foundation unlocks Heavenly Golden Core routes with the best combat scaling; Human Path may restrict you to inferior core variants. Golden Core progression gating controls access to mid-game Luocha arcs, sect leadership trials, and high-tier Profound techniques. Pill support remains critical—shared pill resistance means you cannot infinitely spam elixirs during long core condensation sequences.

Nascent Soul (Yuán Yīng, 元婴)

Nascent Soul marks entry into elder-level threats: Soul Transformation antagonists, large-scale sect wars, and multi-phase boss scripts. Dantian space at this tier accommodates full mono-element engines with multiple Profound methods merged together. NPC relationship systems matter more because learning and requesting top techniques consumes massive goodwill pools that are hard to rebuild if you abused soul search in earlier chapters.

Soul Transformation (Huà Shén, 化神) — EA Cap

Soul Transformation is the highest playable realm in the July 2026 Early Access build. Reaching it completes the power fantasy arc advertised on Steam— from mixed-root outcast to domain-level cultivator who can dictate outcomes in Luocha Island's multiple endings. Endgame Soul Transformation fights assume optimized Heavenly paths, fully resonant Dantian boards, and targeted pill crafting through Shennong Cauldron or stockpiles gathered across decades of in-game time.

LeiYun has confirmed that artifact crafting (LianQi) remains under active development during Early Access, while alchemy is feature-complete for the current arc. Expect future realm extensions when additional storylines ship.

Breakthrough Timing and the Time-Reversal Tool

Cultivation is constrained by age and calendar time. Wasting in-game years on inefficient farming can block Heavenly Foundation. The game provides a time-reversal artifact (Shuo Guang Yin) that rewinds to narrative checkpoints—not a full free respec, but a safety net for missing Heavenly windows or botched story flags. Use breakthrough preview menus (default N key) before committing resources to confirm eligibility.
