Why Save Management Matters in EA

Destiny of Immortal is in active Early Access — patches 0.13.14 through 0.13.16 alone changed combat balance, alchemy XP, skill values, and cloud save limits within one week of launch. LeiYun Games recommends manual save backups before every major update. A corrupted or incompatible save can cost 25+ hours of Luocha Island progress.

This guide covers local save location, Steam Cloud behavior after the July 2026 expansion, F8 quick-save workflow, and when to export files before patching.

Local Save Location

All save files live at:

%USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/XiaMenLeiYun/Zaohua

Quick access: press Win + R, paste the path above, press Enter. Copy the entire folder to a backup drive before applying Steam updates — especially during launch week when patches ship daily.

• Each save slot is a separate file — copy all files if you use multiple characters
• Demo saves from the removed Steam demo are not compatible with EA — do not attempt import
• True Cultivation mode save bugs were fixed in 0.13.14 — update before starting a hardcore run

Steam Cloud — 1 GB Cap (Patch 0.13.16)

Before July 12, 2026, Steam Cloud saves were capped at 40 MB, causing sync failures and corruption for long playthroughs. Patch 0.13.16 expanded the limit to 1 GB.

• Enable Steam Cloud in Steam → Properties → General for automatic sync across PCs
• Verify sync after patches: Launch Steam, confirm the game updated, then load your save — if stats look wrong (luck, HP, spirit stones), patch 0.13.16 fixed cache display bugs but older corrupted cloud copies may need a local backup restore
• Offline play: Achievements and Creation Points sync when reconnecting — see Steam Achievements

If cloud sync fails repeatedly, disable cloud temporarily, play from local backup, and re-enable after confirming save integrity.

F8 Quick Save Workflow

F8 opens quick save and quick load — the primary tool for safe play in EA:

• Save before every boss fight, breakthrough (N key), soul search, theft attempt, and major story choice
• Patch 0.13.14 fixed F8 double-press freeze after combat victory — still avoid spamming F8 twice immediately after battle ends
• Patch 0.13.15 restored N key functionality immediately after breakthrough — previously broken post-realm-advance
• No remapping in EA — F8 and N bindings are fixed

Shuo Guang Yin (溯光阴) vs File Backup

The in-game Shuo Guang Yin (溯光阴) system provides automatic checkpoints at story branch points — useful for exploring alternate choices within a run. Patch 0.13.19 also requires Shuo Guang Yin to recover saves stuck by cave, tomb, or secret realm position softlocks — load the previous story node after updating. It does not replace file backups:

• Shuo Guang Yin handles route branching and official dungeon softlock recovery — not patch corruption or cloud sync failures alone
• Export folder backups before major patches regardless of in-game rewind availability
• Multiple playthroughs for achievements require separate save slots — back up each

Reporting Bugs With Saves

LeiYun requests bug reports include: version number, save file, hardware config, and screenshots. Submit via the in-game feedback form (主菜单左下角问题意见) or official QQ groups listed on Steam. Patch 0.13.15 enabled red error logging in-game to help diagnose crashes — note any red text before reporting.
