Build Tier List for Early Access

S/A/B tier rankings for the five elements and key techniques in Destiny of Immortal Early Access, based on over-level combat, boss clears, and Dantian efficiency.

How to Read This Tier List

Destiny of Immortal (造化仙缘) balances all five elements in Early Access, but each excels in different combat scenarios. This tier list reflects Early Access balance as of July 2026, covering the complete Luocha Island / Rakshasa Isle Demon Cultivator route from Qi Refining through Soul Transformation (化神). Rankings consider over-level solo fights, group encounters, Dantian puzzle-piece efficiency, and how easily each build reaches its power spike without excessive save-scumming.

Combat runs on an action-bar turn-based system where speed determines turn order and overwhelming speed grants extra turns. Your Dantian layout triggers resonance bonuses (generating, merging, overcoming) that multiply technique effectiveness. A tier placement therefore reflects both raw damage and how well a build leverages these systems.

Element Tier Rankings

S Tier — Metal & Water

Metal (Geng Metal / 庚金) sits at the top for single-target burst. Stacking spell attack through techniques like Golden Spear Art (金枪术) and Metal damage buffs can push a single Energy point past 110 damage in optimized Dantians. Metal deletes priority targets — injured Foundation Establishment cultivators, Liu Bohu ambushes, and secret realm bosses — faster than any other element. The trade-off is weaker AoE and reliance on landing big hits before enemies act.

Water rivals Metal for boss encounters through speed stacking and multi-hit combos. Water builds accumulate Speed bonuses (notably from Hidden Spirit Art / 隐灵诀) and chain low-cost hits across extra turns. Energy recovery spells are largely Water-exclusive in EA, making Water the premier sustained-pressure element. Multi-hit damage scales with your buffs but can be reduced by enemy damage mitigation — carry a high single-hit backup spell.

A Tier — Earth & Fire

Earth (Wu Earth / 戊土) is the safest over-level pick. Shield stacking via Earth Armor Art (土甲术), Heavy Earth Art (重土术), and later Myriad Dust Profound Classic (万尘玄经) plus Giant Thorn Earth Art (巨刺土术) creates near-impenetrable defenses. Shield retention modifiers and armor gear let Earth cultivators outlast and counter-attack stronger foes. Slower kill times than Metal or Water, but unmatched consistency — see our Earth Element Build guide for the full route.

Fire dominates group encounters with AoE techniques. Fireball Art (火球术) serves as a universal no-prerequisite spell every build should own, but Fire-specialized cultivators scale it and related arts into reliable wave-clear tools. Fire struggles slightly against single high-HP bosses compared to Metal burst, but shines in dungeon sweeps, multi-enemy ambushes, and Foundation-period farming.

B Tier — Wood

Wood provides the strongest healing and sustain, making it forgiving for newer players and Hell-difficulty runs. Wood cultivators recover health and status between turns, extending fights that would end other builds. Clear speed lags behind damage-focused elements, and Wood lacks the burst or speed to skip dangerous enemy turns. Wood climbs toward A-tier in prolonged boss fights where recovery outvalues raw DPS, especially with Shennong Cauldron alchemy support.

Technique Tier Highlights

  • S Tier: Golden Spear Art (金枪术), Hidden Spirit Art (隐灵诀), Flowing Cloud Sword Art (流云剑法) — still strong but no longer the pre-balance god-tier AoE it once was
  • A Tier: Steel Needle Art (钢针术), Earth Armor Art (土甲术), Blood Devouring Demonic Art (噬血魔功) — universal HP ceiling boost, Canjin Art (灿金诀) for Metal scaling
  • B Tier: Fine Needle Art (细针术), Iron Armor Art (铁甲术) — solid early options superseded by mid-tier arts
  • Situational: Flowing Cloud Sword Technique (流云剑诀) — excellent with sword resonance layouts; Fireball Art — mandatory utility spell regardless of element

Dantian Layout Principles

Regardless of element, follow the EA meta skeleton: one 4-point cultivation technique matching your element plus two 3-point combat spells. Arrange pieces to trigger generating (相生) and merging (相融) resonance for your element while avoiding overcoming (相克) penalties on key skills. Metal prioritizes spell attack resonance chains; Water stacks speed tiles adjacent to multi-hit spells; Earth links shield-generation pieces; Fire connects AoE tiles; Wood chains recovery and regeneration bonuses.

Equipment matters as much as techniques. The Juntian accessory set (钧天套), obtainable through Jiang Peipei storyline events in Chapter 3, benefits burst and multi-hit builds alike. Earth builds prefer armor and shield retention; Metal stacks spell attack on weapons and accessories.

Difficulty & Treasure Adjustments

Tier placements assume Normal difficulty with either Shiling Pearl (噬灵珠, soul search/steal) or Shennong Cauldron (神农鼎, alchemy). Shiling Pearl enables stealing high-tier techniques that shift rankings — Metal benefits enormously from soul-searching Foundation cultivators for top-tier Metal spells. Shennong Cauldron boosts Wood and sustain builds through pill production. On Hell difficulty, Earth and Wood rise half a tier due to survivability demands.

Post-0.6.6 balance removed exploits like save-scumming the Ruyi Spell Pendant and certain stolen gear loops, making honest build planning more important. All five elements can beat over-level opponents in EA — pick based on your preferred playstyle, not strictly meta.

Perguntas frequentes

What is the best element in Destiny of Immortal EA?

Metal and Water share S-tier in EA. Metal delivers the fastest single-target burst for bosses and ambushes; Water dominates through speed stacking, extra turns, and multi-hit chains. Neither is strictly better — choose Metal for burst kills or Water for sustained pressure.

Is Wood element viable in Early Access?

Yes. Wood is B-tier for clear speed but A-tier for survivability. Healing and sustain make Wood excellent on Hell difficulty or with Shennong Cauldron alchemy support. You will kill slower, but die far less often.

Did Flowing Cloud Sword Art get nerfed?

Yes. Pre-0.6.6 balance, Flowing Cloud Sword Art was the dominant AoE option via stolen gear and save-scumming loops. EA removed those exploits and limited energy-recovery spells mostly to Water, reducing sword AoE dominance. It remains A-tier, not S-tier.

How many techniques should I equip in my Dantian?

The standard EA layout is one 4-point cultivation technique (功法) plus two 3-point combat spells (术法). Fill remaining Dantian space with resonance-linked pieces that buff your core three skills.

Does element choice affect the Luocha Island story?

No. Element affects combat style only. The Rakshasa Isle Demon Cultivator storyline branches on moral and route choices (Shanyin County vs Wuyin Sea), not your spiritual root element.

Which element is best for fighting Liu Bohu?

Metal burst or Earth shield builds handle the Liu Bohu ambush at Shanyin Pass best. Metal kills him quickly with Blood Pressure Pills (降压药) negating Foundation pressure; Earth outlasts his damage. Both are proven in community clears.

Should I pick element at character creation or from the Chaos Pearl?

You select your spiritual root when activating the Chaos Pearl after your first kill. The Lingxi Pavilion quiz in Xianyuan City also hints at element mechanics (answer: Metal). Your creation stats matter less than the root you commit to.
