What Is Heavenly Foundation?

Heavenly Foundation (Tiān Dào Zhù Jī, 天道筑基) is the highest-quality Foundation Establishment breakthrough in Destiny of Immortal — granting stat bonuses far exceeding Human Path, Blood Path, or Earth Path alternatives. Heavenly dao base preserves access to top-tier Golden Core variants later and defines the power floor for late-game Luocha Island content. Achievement hunters and min-max players treat Heavenly Foundation as the standard for first serious clears.

Missing Heavenly requirements does not soft-lock the game — other paths remain viable for completing all endings. But optimal scaling assumes Heavenly. This guide covers every requirement, acquisition route, calendar planning, and the breakthrough execution sequence.

Five Requirements Checklist

Press N to open the breakthrough screen. All five must show green checkmarks:

1. Nine Foundation Pills (筑基丹)
2. One Dao Foundation Fruit (道基果)
3. Foundation secret manual (筑基秘法) — Introductory Qi Foundation Art (引气筑基诀)
4. Age under 21 at breakthrough (protagonist starts at age 14)
5. Qi Refining level 9 with full cultivation progress bar

If any requirement shows red, do not breakthrough. Gather the missing material or fix the age issue before committing.

Material Acquisition: Shanyin Route (Recommended)

Choose the north Shanyin County route during the Chapter 2 escape direction split. This integrates materials into story progression:

• Dao Foundation Fruit: Defeat Liu Zhaoguang and Wang Yining in the Liuyun Secret Realm before exiting
• Foundation Pills: Herbs collected in the secret realm auto-convert into multiple pills on exit — supplement with crafting or purchases to reach nine
• Secret manual: Quest rewards from Shanyin storyline and Liuyun City content

Material Acquisition: Wuyin Sea Route (Alternative)

Southern route players buy materials at Blood Luo City (血罗城):

• Dao Foundation Fruit: Ghost market — Wang Zhiyu (buy only the fruit)
• Foundation Pills: Blood Pill Hall (血丹房) — nine pills
• Secret manual: Blood Cultivation Hall (血功房) — Introductory Qi Foundation Art

Age Management: The Hidden Timer

Your protagonist starts at age 14. Heavenly Foundation requires breakthrough before age 21 — a seven-year window. Every map movement, monthly advance click, and story auto-time-skip consumes months.

Efficient calendar strategy:

• Complete Yunhai Town timed quest immediately (+1 Speed, minimal time cost)
• Clear Demon Slaughter Cave for permanent HP before optional exploration
• Do not wander aimlessly — follow walkthrough main quest sequence
• Breakthrough immediately when materials are ready after Liu Bohu

Pre-Breakthrough Preparation

Before pressing N and selecting Heavenly Foundation (bottom option on breakthrough screen):

1. Complete Shanyin Pass and Liu Bohu fight with loot secured
2. Finish Liuyun Secret Realm boss encounters for Dao Foundation Fruit
3. Verify nine pills in inventory (do not consume in combat)
4. Confirm secret manual in inventory
5. F8 save immediately before breakthrough attempt

Breakthrough Execution

With all green checkmarks on the N-key screen:

1. Press N to open breakthrough interface
2. Select Heavenly Foundation (天道筑基) — the bottom option
3. Confirm material consumption (nine pills, one fruit, one manual consumed automatically)
4. Survive the inner demon sequence and dialogue choices
5. Post-breakthrough: flight unlocked, realm suppression against Qi Refining enemies active

Common Heavenly Foundation Mistakes

These errors cause the most restarts among first-time Heavenly planners:

• Consuming Foundation Pills in combat: Nine pills must remain in inventory for the breakthrough screen. Combat attrition burns your Heavenly stockpile silently.
• Exiting Liuyun Secret Realm early: Leaving before defeating Liu Zhaoguang and Wang Yining forfeits the Dao Foundation Fruit permanently on that playthrough.
• Delaying breakthrough after materials are ready: Every month of optional exploration after materials are gathered risks crossing age 21.
• Choosing Human Path by accident: Heavenly Foundation is the bottom option on the N-key screen, not the default highlighted choice. Read OCR translations carefully.
• Skipping Blood Devouring Demonic Art: The +150 permanent HP from Demon Slaughter Cave is not required for Heavenly eligibility but dramatically improves Liu Bohu survivability before breakthrough.
