Shanyin County: The Recommended North Route

Shanyin County (山阴郡) is the northern mainland route in Destiny of Immortal's Foundation-period split — the community-recommended path for first playthroughs targeting Heavenly Foundation (天道筑基). Where the southern Wuyin Sea route requires buying Heavenly materials with spirit stones at Blood Luo City's merchants, Shanyin County integrates pill, fruit, and manual acquisition into story quests and secret realm progression. You trade spirit stone expenditure for structured dungeon clears and NPC encounters.

Route Entry: Shanyin Pass (山阴关隘)

After five months of Chapter 2 world exploration, the story auto-transports you to Ping'an City and directs you toward Shanyin Pass — the gateway into Shanyin County. This is the most dangerous map transition in the EA arc because of the Liu Bohu (刘搏虎) ambush waiting at the pass entrance.

⚠️ Liu Bohu Encounter Warning

Liu Bohu ambushes you automatically upon entering Shanyin Pass. He is a full Foundation Establishment cultivator while you are still Qi Refining — the game's signature over-level fight designed to test preparation, not reflexes. You cannot avoid this encounter; it triggers on entry.

Pre-Fight Checklist

• Blood Pressure Pills (降压药): At least one — removes Foundation-realm suppression debuff. Without this, Liu Bohu's realm pressure cripples your stats.
• Full health with healing pills stocked: The fight is a burst damage check, not an attrition war for most builds.
• Best available equipment: Thunderbolt Sword or upgraded weapon, best armor from Jiang Peipei theft or quest rewards.

• F8 save before entering Shanyin Pass: Reload if the fight goes wrong. Save-scumming is expected and encouraged.

Liu Bohu Rewards

Defeating Liu Bohu yields exceptional loot for the effort:

• Canjin Art (灿金诀): Guaranteed drop — essential Metal scaling technique for all builds
• Golden Spirit Swift Sky Art (金灵疾空术): Steal via Shiling Pearl soul search — top-tier Xuan mobility and damage
• Equipment and spirit stones: Significant gear upgrade for Chapter 3 entry

Do not enter Shanyin Pass until you have completed Demon Slaughter Cave (for +150 permanent HP from Blood Devouring Demonic Art), gathered your element's best techniques, and stocked Blood Pressure Pills. Rushing the pass is the most common cause of EA playthrough restarts.

Liuyun Secret Realm Access

Following the main quest north into Shanyin County routes you into the Liuyun Secret Realm (流云秘境) — the integrated Heavenly Foundation material dungeon. Before exiting:

1. Defeat Liu Zhaoguang (刘昭光)
2. Defeat Wang Yining (王依宁)
3. Claim Dao Foundation Fruit (道基果) automatically
4. Collect herbs that convert to Foundation Pills on exit

This single dungeon can supply both the fruit and most of your nine Foundation Pills — the economic core of the Shanyin route advantage.

Liuyun City (流云城) — Chapter 3 Hub

After Foundation breakthrough, Shanyin County players converge at Liuyun City — the primary mid-game urban hub. Key locations:

• Danxiang Pavilion (丹香阁): Alchemy storyline events
• Lingxi Pavilion (灵息阁): Concealment method quest chain
• Black Market (黑市): Concealment tokens, regional maps, hidden merchandise
• City Lord Manor (城主府): Supreme Foundation Blueprint and Liuyun Sword Technique via persuasion/deception/combat

Calendar Planning on the Shanyin Route

Shanyin County's quest-integrated material path saves spirit stones but costs in-game months. Track your age counter throughout Chapter 2 — you must Foundation breakthrough before 21. Efficient Shanyin routing:

1. Complete Yunhai Town timed quest (+1 Speed) immediately
2. Clear Demon Slaughter Cave for permanent HP before Shanyin Pass
3. Enter Shanyin Pass only when Blood Pressure Pills and best gear are ready
4. Complete Liuyun Secret Realm bosses before any optional exploration
